A new laboratory for Unical

Unical, Arcavacata di Rende (CS) - Preparations are in full swing for the setting up of the Laboratory of Industrial Ceramics (LaCI).

The search for a suitable place to house the new laboratory in the Campus area of the University of Calabria has been completed.

The LaCI will be located in the Department of Biology, Ecology and Earth Sciences (DiBEST), on the ground floor of Cubo 14B, and will be under the responsibility of Dr. Silvio Ruffolo.

As part of the START project, tile samples will be produced in this laboratory by varying both the raw materials and the process parameters; then the samples will be characterised to assess their different characteristics and the data collected will serve as input for Artificial Intelligence models.

In the past week, all the technical-scientific equipment was delivered and has already been transferred to the nascent laboratory. In the coming month, work will continue with the aim of properly placing every instrument and technical furniture to make the LiCI operational and efficient.
