The University of Sassari (Uniss) was founded in 1562 with its main headquarters in Sassari and courses also offered in Alghero, Olbia, Nuoro, and Oristano. With a student population of approximately 13,000, Uniss is considered a medium-sized university at the national level.

With its 10 departments, 40 interdisciplinary research centers, 12 libraries, and over 780 professors and researchers, Uniss offers both in-person and distance education in the humanities and scientific fields.

In START, the Department of Architecture, Design, and Urban Planning, the Department of Biomedical Sciences, the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Department of Medicine, Surgery, and Pharmacy have been involved.

UNISS' Expertise

UNISS, through the collaboration of its three departments - Department of Architecture, Design ed Urban Planning, the Department of Biomedical Sciences and the Department of Medicine, Surgery and Pharmacy - ensures a multidisciplinary contribution to the project.

This materializes in the ability to control construction processes, monitor indoor microclimatic conditions, and process collected data to define an advanced control digital twin of indoor microclimatic conditions through smart home automation.

Expertise in the field integrates into the definition of technical and technological/performance specifications behind the construction of the study prototype, which will serve as the reference point for the activities led by UNISS.
